Player Assistance Fund

The James Uszacki Players Assistance Fund, created by the Rak Family out of love of all participants, was formed to support young players financial participation and love of the game; baseball & softball.

James Uszacki played for Dunkirk HS in the early 80s. He was an excellent first basemen/pitcher and loved the game of baseball. In the spring of 1983 he stayed home during a family spring vacation so he would not miss baseball practice. When the family returned, he and his brother John went to Burger King to catch up on the vacation. On the way, the car was hit by a train on an unguarded crossing. Jimmy was killed and John was badly burned but survived after a long recovery.

Our goal is to ensure that opportunities are available under all circumstances.

To nominate a player for this fund, please send the players name, address, phone number and age along with a brief (one page or less) description of the players circumstances and reasons for qualification to the James Uszacki Player Assistance Fund, C/O New Era Park, 3950 Broadway, Depew, NY 14043..
